Alisa Burke
Alisa Burke is a freelance painter and mixed media artist who studied fine art at Portland State University. With a background in painting and printmaking, a desire to explore and push materials, Alisa is always looking for new ways to break the rules and redefine art. She draws inspiration from street art, graffiti, art history and fashion. In addition to making art, Alisa teaches a variety of workshops nation wide. Visit Alisa’s website here.
Her artwork has been featured in publications such as Cloth Paper Scissors, Quilting Arts, Where Women Create, Somerset Studios’ Haute Handbags, and Art Doll Quarterly. Alisa appeared as a guest artist on the DIY Network show Craft Lab and book Canvas Remix was released in spring 2008.

Graffiti Chic

10am to 3pmThis class will introduce you to the concept of graffiti and tons of techniques- layering, messy color, how to make handmade stencils and stamps, handwriting, using household materials and tools, paint pens, free writing, and all sorts of other techniques and materials to create your very own graffiti compositions on paper, fabric and canvas that can be used in scrapbooks, journals, collage, sewing and all sorts of mixed media projects.
Class Fee: $70 - $65 if registered by April 1st.
Materials to Bring: 2-3 paint brushes (different sizes), 2-3 acrylic paint colors, 5-10 pieces of junk mail or newspaper scraps, ½ to 1 yard of canvas or fabric, scissors, paint scraper (palette knife or old credit/gift card), and exacto knife. -
Anti Scrapbook

12pm to 3pmThis class is for anyone ready to try something new with photos, scrapbooks, logging memories and preserving history, a class for those who don’t want to spend lots of money and are ready to rebel when it comes to scrapbooking! Learn a variety of ways to use recycled materials, alter photos, and use alternative ideas to preserve your memories and more!
Class Fee: $60 - $55 if registered by April 1st.
Materials to Bring: 2-3 paint brushes (different sizes), 2-3 acrylic paint colors, 8x10 stretched canvas (optional), 5 lab quality photos to experiment with, 2 Xerox copies of photos, 5-10 pieces of junk mail or newspaper scraps, scissors, paint scraper (palette knife or old credit/gift card).
